Your gaze caresses the beautiful human form presented before you in a pose that can only be described as complete submission and trust: nude, bent over, buttocks upward, back arched, face down, legs and arms spread. You gently stroke the span of bare skin, using your fingernails ever so slightly, and you smile as the flesh reacts to your touch in a sea of goosebumps. Your submissive trembles beneath you. Perhaps they have done something to upset you... perhaps you are rewarding them for good behavior. Whatever has led to this moment, you know that you the flogger in your grip will soon kiss their flesh with its sweet sting, and you know they will love you all the more for it when you are done.

You lift your soft, leather flogger, prepare your stance, and bring it down upon their back in a smooth arc. The tails of the flogger and its points hit the exact spot you'd intended, and a moan spills from the lips of your submissive. It's certainly a sound of pain, but the pleasure that is also there is unmistakeable. You repeat your motion three times over, in different areas, always mindful of the spine and kidneys, and cease just to drag the leather tails of the flogger over their reddened skin. It is a show of mercy, a few seconds of soothing pleasure, before you continue the flagellation. It will go on as long as it needs to, or at least until they use their designated safe word. Either way, they will experience the punishment deserved... and, of course, that wondrous mix of pain and pleasure so many of us in the BDSM community have come to love so very much.

Choosing the flogger that is right for you and your submissive should be based, most importantly, on the desired effect you are looking to achieve. The following four aspects should always be noted: width of the flogger tails (thinner flogger tails create more sting, while wider ones cause more of a thudding sensation), number of flogger tails (more tails, more thud; less tails, more sting), points - the tips of the flogger tails (pointed or forked points sting more, while square and rounded points are far gentler) and length of the flogger tails (shorter tails tend to weigh less, and therefore will not fall as fast, so they cause less pain than the longer and heavier flogger tails). The material of your flogger is also incredibly important. There are a great deal of leathers and other materials used in making floggers (deerskin, horehair, rubber, elk, suede, rope, plonge, moose, buffalo, bullhide, chain, cowhide of various grade, etc.). I believe trying them out is the best way to decide the materials best for you.

As in any type of BDSM play, the art of flogging should be taken seriously, and knowledge of the human body is a key factor when it comes to this practice. The buttocks, thighs and upper back are the safest areas to focus on when flogging your submissive. Those areas are the most padded and have muscle enough to withstand accidental injury. The areas you should never strike are the hips, tailbone, lower back, spine, head, neck, feet, hands, wrists, abdomen, chest and shoulders. Those areas of the bodys protect organs and also may contain many small bones. Other areas of the body that I didn't list can be used as targets, but you must use serious caution. Before flogging a human being, practice on a wall or a pillow. That way, it will be much easier to aim and strike the proper locations on your submissive when engaging in flogging as a form of play or training and "punishment."

Keep it interesting! A flogging will make your partner or submissive's flesh hot, red and will potentially raise some delicious welts, too. Switch up your methods from time to time during a flogging session. Strike harder and then softer... focus on the buttocks, then move up to the upper back... a gentle stroke of the fingertips over their warmed, raised skin will draw a pleased sigh... drag a pinwheel gently over their sore flesh... an icecube can be a nice surprise, too. It doesn't ever have to be all about pain. A well orchestrated flagellation can be extremely erotic and sensual. Be open with your "bottom" and make sure that you encourage them to tell you what they enjoyed the best, what areas of their bodies became sensitive first, and make sure they thank you for you attentions and mean it. That's just good etiquette. Whip it good, my darlings!
