Model. Actress. Mother. Humanitarian.
Although not yet mainstream, Shelly Rio is on her grind putting together a solid portfolio that will one day change all that.
You've seen her on MTV's Wild 'N Out, Sleeper Cell, Sex and the City and the Jamie Kennedy Experiment. You've seen her in ads for Lugz, Karl Kani, Bacardi and Dasani. And if you are a gentleman, we KNOW you have seen her on the cover of King Magazine, Blackmen Magazine and yes, in the Lil Wayne "Lollipop" music video.
That's only the beginning. Ms. Rio's goal is to not only establish herself as a top model but also, on a more selfless and inspirational level, set up her own non-profit organization for foster kids, group home kids and single moms to help them with funding when they turn 18.
Ms. Rio has faced great adversity in her life. And with God's blessing and a truly positive attitude she has pushed on. But although she has overcome life's emotional obstacles, she now faces industry obstacles. The most common: being labeled and viewed as another "video hoe".
But that won't stop Ms. Rio. She understands the nature of the game. If life were Chess, you could say she was positioning her pieces, sacrificing the pawns, lulling her opponent into a false sense of security and then CHECKMATE.
Pink Diamond Management made this interview possible. Read on as we chatted with Shelly about life, the business and FUN!
