Felissa Rose Esposito grew up in New York wanting to be an actress. In 1983 at the age of thirteen she landed the role of Angela, the murderer in the cult horror film "Sleepaway Camp".
She was born in Greenwich Village and grew up in Woodbury, Long Island. After appearing in Sleepaway Camp, she quit acting to go to school at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. She has since returned to cinema and has appeared in such films as Chris Watson's "Zombiegeddon", Andreas Schnaas' "Nikos", and Steve Taylor's "Sludge". She has also appeared in two films by New Jersey filmmaker Dante Tomaselli: "Horror" and "Satan's Playground".
Besides her legendary work in the horror genre she has also done dramatic roles including Woody Allen's "Another Woman" and appeared in numerous off-broadway productions.
Club DD was fortunate enough to have caught up with Felissa for Six Question:
1. Club DD: 15 Years ago Sleepaway Camp touched on issues not only in the horror genre but in film that even to this day are controversial. In a nutshell we had a trans-gendered "female" child killer torturing and killing teenagers in some bizarre (and rather entertaining) ways. And the ending- mind blowing. As a child, filming the movie, did you at the time think this was going to become such a cult hit?
Felissa: I had just turned thirteen and I had no idea what I was getting myself into!! I just wanted to perform and my parents were thrilled I was the lead in a film. What the hell were they thinking?? I had asked them but they were clueless! I did not know it would have a following, just seemed like harmless fun!
2. Club DD: Fast-forward to present day and you are back for Return to Sleepaway Camp (aka Sleepaway Camp 5). It's been in production for quite sometime now. What's causing the delay (we're getting antsy)?
Felissa: It is coming out in October on DVD. I just found out from a reliable source. It should be as fun as the first one!
Club DD: And compared to the original what can we expect from Angela Baker?
Felissa: If I tell ya, I'd have to kill ya! It wouldn't be any fun if you knew anything!
3. Club DD: Born in the West Village and a graduate of the NYU, regardless of the move to Cali, to us, you're a New Yorker! What do you miss most about NYC?
Felissa: I miss everything about NYC! The energy, the noise, the crowds, the craziness. I'm really liking LA now, it's very sunny and calm. I'm glad I visit NY every couple of months or I'd go insane with how chill we are here!
4. Club DD: The three most important items in your wardrobe are:
Felissa: My black Juicy dress, my big black bag and any stilletos I have from before I had my kids!
5. Club DD: Your favorite cuisine is:
Felissa: SUSHI.
6. Club DD: Fill in the blank. Women ________________. Men ___________________.
Felissa: Women: All my girlfriends are amazing! In NY I have my best friends and in LA I have some new sisters who I could not live without!
Men: My husband is amazing. Not to sound corny and annoying but he is my best friend and keeps me calm when I'm a crazed lunatic!
Club DD: Thank you Felissa for taking the time out to do the interview. We wish
you success and fun in the rest of your career and life!
Felissa: Thank You!!
