There are a million and one blogs out there. There are blogs about virtually every topic in existance; from the most serious of issues to the completely trvial and ridiculous. But when you visit a blog for the first time, you instantly know whether of not the blog is of any quality and if the person/people who run the blog know a damn thing about what they are rambling about. However, when we DO find a well run blog with great content and that's written and run well, it is a rare and joyous moment.
For me, that moment occured last Thursday when I stumbled upon, The Stocking Vixen blogsite. It's a sexy, informative and well edited blog all about the wonderful world of Stockings. The creater is a Miss Lisa Norman, whom I quickly contacted via Facebook to show my sincerest appreciation. Her blog is so good that I invited her to do an impromptu "Six Questions With" merely because I feel the Club DD reader could benefit from her wealth of knowledge.

Six Questions
Victoria: For those whom may not be familiar with Stocking Vixen, could you share with us what the blog is all about and your motivation for creating it?
Lisa: I'm a woman on a mission to convince people that hosiery in all its forms is an accessory that can really pull an outfit together and is a lot of fun to wear rather than something that is uncomfortable, old-fashioned, or superfluous to getting dressed. It's beautiful and sexy stuff and I think many women don't understand the impact it can have on men, especially those with a special interest in nylon.
I chose the name Stocking Vixen for the blog because at the time I started it, I was particularly fixated on stockings and Pantyhose or Sock Vixen doesn't have the same ring to it, but really I'm interested in everything that falls into the category of women's hosiery, whether it's worn by a man or a woman.
I write mostly about whatever tends to pop into my head that day, beautiful stockings I've seen, different ways to wear pantyhose, cool nylon-related videos I've seen on YouTube, outfits I've spotted in cyberspace, hot photos of models. With it all, I try to keep the tone really happy and upbeat, because I'm trying to create a nylon-positive environment where people who enjoy nylon and hosiery can feel good and people who haven't tried this stuff might start to feel less nervous about trying it. I remember the first time I bought a garter belt, how nervous I was and how sure I was that it wasn't going to work and that I was going to totally screw it up and it turn out to be so easy and so sexy and fun to wear. I would like to help other people get over their inhibitions and try some new things .
Victoria: What is the most seductive stocking to have ever graced your legs?
Lisa: Definitely my Miss Dora thigh highs by Love Me, which is based in Paris (even that's seductive). They were black and had a beautiful velvet arabesque on the calf with a little rhinestone dotting each one. The welt at the top was black and silver-grey lace, but the thing that qualifies these as the most seductive are that the words "Love Me" were sewn into the lace at the top of the thigh. Nothing like a little imperative call to action in the right place.
Victoria: Do the really expensive stockings still run or is that an issue only with the cheaper ones?
Lisa: Well-made stockings and pantyhose don't tend to run in the same way that cheap, poorly-made ones do, or at least I've yet to find a pair that do. Snags or tears tend to be the thing that will kill a pair, not runs. I say well-made rather than expensive, because decent nylons don't have to break the bank. Hanes Silk Reflections makes pantyhose and thigh thighs that retail for around $9 a pair where I live and they feel great on the legs and they outlast by a mile brands that cost half as much. StockingsHQ online carries some terrific bargains on brands like Levante, Aristoc and Jonathan Aston and anyone looking for steals on good hosiery, should have them bookmarked.
Stockings are also a good buy for another reason in that if you get a hole or snag in one leg, the other leg is usually still good and you can keep it and reuse it. A few brands will even sell their stockings packaged with three in the pack.
Victoria: Can you offer any Stocking Etiquette for the ladies whom may be new to the world? Are there specific stockings for certain occasions? Should the stockings color match with any other accessory?
Lisa: Style didn't really come to me naturally and, honestly, I still have to think about it, so I actually had a hosiery Yoda, and I can still remember standing in the hosiery department at Macy's listening to her say to me in a very stern voice, "The socks or tights usually match the OUTFIT, not the shoes." She is a former, professional dominatrix, so she is good at the stern voice and she always looks fabulous, so I believe her on that one.
I know that some people believe that dark hose should never be worn with light shoes and things like that, but with 80's styles being back, a lot of that stuff is out the window at the moment.
I suppose there are stockings styles that are too dressy or sexy for some workplaces. I'd suggest, generally that the same rules apply to stockings that apply to any article of clothing. Make sure what you're wearing is appropriate in tone for where you'll be going. It's probably best not to slap on the fencenets and stilletos when you're heading to church.
Victoria: Share with us, the funniest experience you've ever had while wearing a pair of stockings.
Lisa: I was at the grocery store fairly recently and had just paid and was going out the door with a bag in each hand, when one of my thigh highs decided to start rolling down my leg and at the same time, for some bizarre reason, the elastic in my panties decided it didn't like me anymore and they started to fall down, too. There were people all around, so I couldn't really do a discreet tug to correct things, so I did a weird sort of Donald Duck as Quasimodo walk out to the car with my bags to try to keep things in place until I could fix things.
Victoria: If you could dress up in absolutely nothing but a pair of your most fabulous stockings and put on a private fashion show, who would you like to have watch?
Lisa: Definitely someone who would really appreciate it, so Elmer Batters the wonderful fetish photographer. I'd need a time machine, but I need one for a lot of reasons, so it would be worth the investment. I'd also love to be photographed by him with all my heart.
Thanks so much for interviewing me and I've enjoyed so much the reading I've done on your site. I'm just really pleased to have found you guys, most of all.
Victoria: Thank YOU.
